The American Center Abuja and American Corner Calabar planned to host a virtual program in collaboration with African Environmental Action Network (EANet-Africa) to connect all interested American Spaces who want to commemorate 2018 Earth Day which will be celebrated on April 22 this year.  The AC Abuja organized the program to enable American Spaces Nigeria audiences to join the network of estimated more than half billion people who will participate in Earth Day Network’s campaigns this year.  The theme of 2018 World Earth Day is focused on ending plastic pollution which now considered pandemic proportion, threatening our planet’s survival, poisoning and injuring marine life and disturbing human hormones and littering our beaches and landscapes. Once again, the American Corner Calabar presents to its community another important educational program on Education USA. The Education USA is one of many major services rendered by the American Corner. It is a US department of state supported network of over 400 advising centers with 500 advisers in 176 countries of which the American Corner Calabar is part. The programs and services wrapped in Education USA include career counseling, seminars on writing resume, essays, SOP; outreach to schools and media; advice on school selection; guide to scholarship opportunities; visa orientation; pre-departure orientation; sale of SAT, TOEFL, GRE & GMAT books; and teacher training workshop. Public and private secondary school educators and people looking forward to building a career in English studies where a major part of the audience. Mary Frances Bodenstein, the facilitator, did great justice to the topic: Classroom Routines and Procedures: Setting your Classroom Up for Success. The webinar accurately addressed the concept of classroom management which is a difficult aspect of teaching for many teachers. The office of English Language programs is pleased to introduce to you, the American English Webinar Series- AEW, an online teacher training seminars for professional development. The series will take place from January 17 – March 28, 2018. Each 60-minute webinar will be held every other Wednesday by 2:00pm, at the American Corner Calabar, Women Development center, Parliamentary Village. We encourage   English teachers in your school at the Junior and Senior Secondary School leavers to participant in the program in order to build their capacity and improve their ELT methodology.
